Please note that bank fishing from the natural bank at Hanningfield will be fly only from now until the end of the season.
Set within a picturesque part of Essex, this is one fishery you do not want to miss.
With a stocking over the season of a minimum of 51,000 high-quality rainbow trout, along with 1,000 homegrown specimens, you have the opportunity of catching fish weighing up to 10lbs and over.
You can fish from the top of the dam, from the natural bank or from one of our 36 Coulam motorboats, so every time you visit you can enjoy a different experience.
On-site we have an excellent shop stocked with everything you need for a day’s fishing including rods, reels, tackle, accessories, clothing, worms and baits. You can also visit our Cafe on the Water after a full day out for some quality tea and coffee, sandwiches, pastries, cakes or a delicious hot meal.
Although we do love our four legged furry friends, due to the site being a Site of Special Scientific Interest and full of wildlife and wildfowl, we are unable to allow dogs on any part of our site at Hanningfield. Assistance dogs are still welcome.

From the valve tower to the goldfish bowl on the main dam wall, and from the peninsula to the inlet, all methods respond well.
Hall point, Atlantis and the bird hide in lodge bay are great places to start. In summer look out for the bubble lines, which consistently hold fish that respond well to both fly and spinners.
From the A12 take Southend Road towards Howe Green. After three miles turn right at The Bell public house into South Hanningfield Road. After two miles, turn right into Giffords Lane just after The Old Windmill public house.
Hanningfield fishing lodge is at the bottom of the lane.
